PRODUCT NAMING CONVENTIONS

 

STANLEY uses a numbering system to describe our products. For example, a "5200" is an automatic slide door panels that are telescoping partially breakout because 5 represents telescoping and 2 represents partial breakout . 

  • 2: Partial Breakout - meaning only the sliding panel can be broken out (swings open) at any point of travel to create a larger opening for emergency egress. Example: Dura-Glide 2000 and Telescoping 5200. Click here to watch the video.
  • 3: Full Breakout meaning all door panels (sliding and stationary) can be broken out (swing open) at any point of travel to create a larger opening for emergency egress. Example: Dura-Glide 3000 and Telescoping 5300. Click here to watch the video.
  • 4: Manual swinging panels. Example Dura-Care 7400.
  • 5: Telescoping panels. Example 5200.
  • 6: Folding panels. Example Dura-Care 7600.
  • 7: Manual sliding panels: Example: Dura-Care 7000, our Intensive Care Unit door.
  • TL-FBO: Trackless Full Breakout (usually on our manual sliding doors). Example Dura-Care 7200 TL-FBO.
  • FBO: Full Breakout.

PANEL DESCRIPTORS

  • X Panel: Slide
  • S Panel: Swing
  • O Panel: Fixed
  • P Panel: Partial panel provides guide for a 2000 SX panel to slide on and provides weather sealing.
  • Combination of letters creates product features. For example SX panel slides and swings open for emergency egress.

SWING DOOR TERMINOLOGY

  • Active Door: The door that includes the locking mechanism.
  • Bi-Swinging Pair: A simultaneous pair of swinging doors.
  • Breakout: The ability to allow emergency egress through the door in a manner different from its normal operations – an IN door swinging out.
  • Butt Hung: Swinging door on butt hinges.
  • Center Pivot: Condition of pivoting a swing door about a point on the centerline of the door panel, 3 ¾” from the pivot jamb. Required for breakout.
  • Concealed Application: Operator and casing contained within framing system.
  • Door Arm: Member which mechanically links operator output spindle to door. May be a single piece located in the rail of the door (concealed application), or complex device utilizing connecting rods and slides (visible application).
  • Double Egress: A pair of swinging doors swinging simultaneously in opposite directions.
  • “In” Door Application: Door swings toward ingress of building.
  • Left Hand Operator: As the user approaches the door from the push side, the door swings to the left.
  • Offset Pivot: Condition of pivoting a swinging door off of the centerline of the door panel.
  • “Out” Door Application: Door swings toward egress of building.
  • Reveal: Dimension from surface upon which operator will be mounted to face of door being automated. Often applying to visible, swinging applications.
  • Right Hand Operator: Opposite to left hand (see left hand operation)
  • Side Clearance: Distance from the face of the door in the full open 90 degree position to the outer most point on the operator linkage.
  • Swing Clear: Butt hinge that allows the swinging panel to swing clear of the jamb allowing more clear door opening.
  • Visible Application: Operator contained in a case, surface-mounted to the door frame.

SLIDE DOOR TERMINOLOGY

1. Activating Zone: It is the detection pattern (zone) of approximately five feet deep and as wide as the clear door opening protected by the motion sensor. When someone enters the zone, the control is actuated and the sliding door panels open.
2. Emergency Egress Position (Breakout): The sliding door panel(s) swing outward for emergency egress. The door system is inoperative in this position.
3. Header: The top horizontal aluminum tube that contains the operating mechanism.
4. IN Door(s): Designed for traffic into the building only.
5. Motion Sensor: It is a self‐contained unit mounted on the header. When someone enters the zone, the control is activated and the sliding door panels open.
6. OUT Doors: Designed for traffic out of the building
7. Recycle: When a door is closing and it is activated, it immediately reverses and goes to its “open” position.
8. Breakout: A term applied to describe the ability to allow emergency egress through the door(s) in a manner different from its normal operation. In sliding doors, the sliding panel swings out.
9. Reset Door Panels from Breakout Position: Push the swing out door panel(s) closed to their normal position.
10. Safety Zone: The area covered by motion sensors and threshold presence sensors.
11. Sliding Door: A door sliding parallel with the wall or face of the building allowing access.
12. Threshold: Area of the floor that contains the door track where the panels move over.
13. Stan‐Guard™ Threshold Sensor: A presence sensor mounted on the underside of the header, directly above the door opening to detect the presence of a person or object in the pathway of the door.
14. Holding Beam: A device which employs the use of a visible or invisible light beam across or through an opening. When the beam is interrupted by a person or object, the signal is generated.
